Glenn Govier sent me this:

A veritable institution on the NJ music scene for many years, local guitar legend Bernie Brausewetter passed in April. During his career, Bernie played at over 150 benefit shows for fellow players and various causes. His friends and colleagues now return the kindness and have planned a memorial concert in his honor; details follow below:

Tribute to Bernie Brausewetter

If you mention Bernie Brausewetter's name in any nightclub, music store or theater in the metropolitan area, someone there has probably heard him play. His fans include some of the greatest musicians in the world yet he was humble, kind and generous. His guitar wizardry was unparalleled because BB was fearless, pushing the envelope every time he touched a guitar. We're inviting all of Bernie's fans, friends, contemporaries and anyone who knew or would like to know more about this amazing performer to join us at the Stone Pony on July 22.

We are pleased to announce that the release of the Stingers new CD "New Set of Rules" will take place at the tribute. This is material that Bernie wrote, produced, and planned to release himself this year. New Set of Rules refers to experiences set forth by the heart attack that Bernie suffered in Memphis Tennessee in January of 2003. As it turns out BB was gifted enough time to make this project a reality. He wrote, recorded, produced, and played live to within weeks of his death. One of the tracks on the CD is called "I'm Gonna Die Tryin'"... and Bernie Brausewetter certainly did that. We are happy that we can carry his dream to fruition. The proceeds from the Stone Pony Tribute will be used to reimburse the Stingers for production costs. Any donations and CD sales above expenses and production costs will go to Normae Brausewetter, Bernie's mother.
